I have never been so alive until I had a chance to be with the new Ford eco sport Black, it is based on the Eco Sport Ambiente 1.5 Auto, and The First Generation of Ford Eco Sport was introduced in South Africa in 2013 and restyled in 2018 now we have the black edition.
I have spent a week in the new Ford Eco Sport Black, The EcoSport Black receives some cosmetic upgrades in black, hence the name Black. Some of the Upgrades include the front grille and skid plates which are finished in black, with black decals on the Sides and Bonnet, The roof is painted in black with integrated black roof rails and black mirror caps and a black spare wheel cover 16-inch black alloy wheels,. You will never struggle to identify the new Ford Eco sport Black because of its Sporty Look.
The EcoSport Black is available in Different colours that make black detailing looks good, including Diamond White, moon dust Silver, Smoke, Blue Lightning and Canyon Ridge.
Under the bonnet is the 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine that delivers 91kW and 151Nm. It is mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox that is good to take you home in the heavy city traffic as it is on the open road.
The EcoSport Black Standard feature includes Manual air-conditioning, electric power-assisted steering, Rear parking sensors, SYNC with Bluetooth Voice Control, Two USB ports, Six speakers and a 4.2-inch screen. . Remote control locking, an integrated perimeter alarm and engine immobiliser take care of vehicle security, while standard rear parking sensors makes it easier to drive the car into tight spaces.
In terms safety, the EcoSport Black comes with six airbags and dual Isofix child seat mounting points at the rear. Active safety features include ABS brakes, Emergency Brake Assist and Electronic Stability Control with traction control.
As mentioned before the Black is based on the entry level 1.5 Ambiente Auto model that makes use of the 1.5l three cylinder petrol engine, mated to a 6 speed auto transmission and produces 91kW and 151Nm. Even though the EcoSport is advertised as a city car, I drove the black Edition on off roads and has enough power, drove it on N1 going to vanderbeilpark the car was performing well even passed some trucks on the way but the is no cruise control and the seats become numbing due to driving long time without stopping I was averaging 8.4 litres for 100 km/h it’s a good car for everyday use and long drives as well due to covid restriction I couldn’t do long drives with my family as we normally drive from Vereeniging to Mpumalanga Middleburg, but I really enjoyed my time with The Ford Eco Sport Black
