Three young men, aged 19 and 20, have lost their lives in separate but seemingly linked violent incidents that rocked the community of Orange Farms, south of Johannesburg, this week.

According to a media statement issued by Sergeant Shaun Motsapi on behalf of Station Commander Brigadier MJ Manamela, the first incident occurred on Monday, 14 April 2025, around 15:40 in Drieziek Extension 4. Police were called to the scene where the body of a 19-year-old was found lying on the street. The victim, who was identified by his mother, reportedly died at the scene following a violent altercation involving two groups of boys. It is alleged that the confrontation originated from a school dispute, despite the victim no longer being a student.
The violence continued into the next day, Tuesday, 15 April. At approximately the same time in the afternoon, another 19-year-old male was found dead at Ext.2 Stretford Clinic. The teenager, identified by a family member, reportedly succumbed to multiple assault injuries following a violent clash between rival groups in Drieziek Extension 3. Witnesses claim the groups were armed with various objects and attacked one another during the conflict.
Later that same evening, at around 22:00, police responded to yet another murder scene in Drieziek Extension 3. They discovered the body of a 20-year-old man near a tuck shop, with multiple gunshot wounds. Another victim, who also sustained gunshot injuries during the incident, was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
Cases of murder and attempted murder have been opened, and investigations are ongoing. Police believe the incidents may be gang-related or linked to acts of vigilantism. No arrests have been made at this stage.
