RICHARDS BAY – Electricity Minister Kgosientsho Ramokgopa says South Africa is moving beyond load shedding as government focuses on achieving a 3% GDP growth target through reliable energy production. Speaking in Richards Bay, he highlighted the importance of strong performance from key state-owned entities such as Eskom and Transnet in supporting economic growth.

His remarks came as Eskom signed a strategic partnership agreement with Zululand Energy Terminal, the country’s first liquefied natural gas import terminal located at Richards Bay Port. Ramokgopa said the government is working to ensure long-term energy security and a stable power supply, adding that the transition to “Eskom 2.0” means the debate over whether load shedding has ended belongs in the past.
