UPDATE- United States and Iran failed to reach an agreement to end their conflict after lengthy 21-hour talks held in Islamabad, Pakistan. The discussions ended without progress, putting a fragile ceasefire at risk as both sides blamed each other for the breakdown. The conflict has already resulted in thousands of deaths and rising global oil prices.

The US delegation, led by Vice President JD Vance, said Iran rejected American terms, while Iranian sources blamed “excessive” US demands for the failure. Despite some reported progress on certain issues, major disagreements remained over the Strait of Hormuz and Iran’s nuclear programme. Iran insists diplomacy is still possible, and Pakistan urged both sides to maintain the ceasefire and continue negotiations.
