PRETORIA- President Cyril Ramaphosa has praised recipients of this year’s National Orders, describing them as nation builders who have played a key role in shaping South Africa’s democratic journey. The honours recognise citizens and foreign nationals who have made a lasting contribution to democracy, equality, justice, and human dignity.
Among the 38 recipients are prominent figures from various fields, including musicians Jonathan Butler, Wouter Kellerman and Oscar “Oskido” Mdlongwa, Springboks head coach Rassie Erasmus, and leading health researchers Professors Tulio de Oliveira and Salim Abdool Karim. Ramaphosa said the awards celebrate individuals who have helped advance the country’s highest democratic aspirations.
