SHARPEVILLE – Sharpeville police are appealing to the community for information following a recent business burglary at a local school where electrical infrastructure was stolen.
According to a media statement from SAPS spokesperson, Cst Busi Sango, the incident came to light when police were dispatched to the school. “Sharpeville police responded to an incident that occurred recently when they were summoned to a local school,” the statement read.
Upon arrival, officers were met by a complainant who had made the discovery during a routine inspection. The complainant “was conducting rounds of inspection around the classrooms,” when he saw something amiss. “When he noticed an open window, upon further inspection, he noticed that all the electric wiring and circuit boards were stolen,” Cst Sango said.
The police statement directly urges the public to be vigilant and assist with the investigation. “Community is urged to be on the lookout and to assist the police in identifying suspects who are burglarizing schools around Sharpeville policing precinct,” the statement emphasized.
