A white man suspected to be in his early forties died while sitting on a bench opposite One by One Supermarket, Malan Street in Vanderbijlpark on the 16th of January in the afternoon. It is alleged that the man had the day before, been released from an unmentioned rehabilitation center. Witnesses say he had marks on his arms suggesting that he had been assaulted. He is said to have been begging for money and was seen injecting himself approximately thirty minutes before it was discovered that he had died.
“At this moment Police have opened an inquest docket, the deceased is unknown at this moment (his name) and we are looking for anyone with information that may lead us to his next of kin. We are presently waiting for the post-mortem results to know the cause of death.” says the SAPS spokesperson Sgt Makhale.
Police are urging anyone with information to contact the Vanderbijlpark Police Station 016 910 9003 and speak to Warrant Officer Booyens.
