VEREENIGING | Sharpeville SAPS, in partnership with multiple stakeholders, conducted a high-impact crime prevention initiative on 12 August 2025 as part of Operation Basadi. The campaign, held in honour of Women’s Month, aimed to highlight the role of women in law enforcement.

The operation was split into three groups:
– A roadblock on Vaal Road opposite Powerville Park
– A school search at a local secondary school with the Sedibeng Department of Education
– A high-density patrol team
According to SAPS spokesperson Cst. Busi Sango, the operation “yielded positive results,” with 14 traffic fines issued and 21 suspects arrested for various crimes.
The initiative involved collaboration with CPF, GTW, Home Affairs, Gauteng and Emfuleni Traffic, the Department of Community Safety, and Siyabangena patrollers.
