The Gauteng MEC for Education, Sport, Arts, Culture & Recreation, Mr Matome Chiloane, today, 16 July 2024, attended a memorial service of the learners who tragically lost their lives during a devastating scholar transport accident.
The tragic accident happened on Wednesday, 10 July 2024, in Carletonville in the Kokosi-Wedela area in Merafong, resulting in the loss of 11 learners and their driver.
The youngest was seven-year-old, Reabetswe who was in Grade 1 at Laerskool Blyvooruitsig.
The Hlalele family lost 4 children in the tragic accident.
