NASA’s Artemis II mission has entered the Moon’s gravitational sphere as its four astronauts cruise toward the lunar far side. This trajectory will make them the farthest humans from Earth in history, surpassing the previous record set by Apollo 13 over five decades ago. The crew has been traveling in their Orion capsule since launching from Florida last week.
The astronauts are scheduled to wake for their sixth flight day around 10:50 am ET on Monday by 7:05 pm. They are expected to reach the mission’s maximum distance of roughly 252,757 miles from Earth about 4,102 miles farther than the Apollo 13 record marking a major milestone in human space exploration.
