HARARE- Zimbabwe is facing a severe public transport crisis after fares surged by 70% following rising fuel prices. Many commuters, especially in Harare, are struggling to afford the R34 fare, with some forced to walk long distances or hitch rides on open trucks.
The fuel hike has also driven up the cost of basic food, adding to the financial strain on households. Commuters are questioning why the government has not intervened to ease the burden.
