JOHANNESBURG- Deputy Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) chief Julius Mkhwanazi and Ekurhuleni City Manager Kagiso Lerutla have been granted bail following their arrests in mid-April. Each has been released on bail set at R30,000 after spending several days in custody, including the long weekend, while awaiting the court’s decision.

The case has been postponed to 13 May as investigations continue. The two officials had remained behind bars after the court reserved judgment on their bail application last Friday.
