A fatal accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday, 12 April 2026, at approximately 04:30 along the Golden Highway near the Engen Garage at the Crossroads between Polokong and Zone 20 Phase 2. According to reports, a vehicle travelling towards Vanderbijlpark struck two male pedestrians who were attempting to cross the road, and both were declared dead at the scene.
The occupants of the vehicle, both male, were found to be under the influence of alcohol and were immediately arrested. Emergency services and police responded to the scene, with forensic and clearance operations concluding at around 07:50. The families of the deceased were notified, and authorities have confirmed that investigations into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
