National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola has returned to the Ad Hoc Committee to address concerns regarding alleged infiltration of criminals into the national security complex. His appearance comes as lawmakers seek clarity on security lapses and the measures the police are taking to safeguard sensitive operations.
Last year, Masemola testified on the disbandment of the Political Killings Task Team, asserting that the decision, directed by Minister Senzo Mchunu, interfered with his constitutional mandate. He maintained that the dissolution of the task team raised questions about oversight and the independence of critical police investigations.
