Parliament says it will investigate allegations of gender-based violence against female EFF members.

That’s after a complaint was laid by the party’s chief whip, Floyd Shivambu.

The Speaker of the National Assembly House says two security personnel have filed criminal charges against the EFF members.

Last week, Parliamentary Protection Services removed MPs from the Red Berets after disruptive behaviour.

This was during the Presidency’s Budget Vote and the president’s reply to the debate.

Speaker Nosiviwe Mapisa- Nqakula says two security officers suffered abuse, assault and intimidation at the hands of the EFF.

One of the officers was injured in the face.

She says the EFF MPs were forcefully removed as a last resort to ensure the business of the House could continue.
