UPDATE – Spain won their second FIFA World Cup title after defeating Argentina 1-0 in extra time in Sunday’s final. Ferran Torres scored the decisive goal in the 106th minute, while Argentina were reduced to 10 men after Enzo Fernandez was sent off late in normal time. Spain dominated possession and created numerous chances before finally breaking the deadlock.

The victory makes Spain the first nation to win the European Championship and the World Cup in succession twice, while also becoming the first World Cup champions to concede only one goal throughout the tournament. Argentina, despite Lionel Messi’s impressive campaign of eight goals and four assists and Emiliano Martinez’s 11 saves in the final, failed to defend their 2022 World Cup title.
