ASEDI- The Smart ID Card High-Impact Community Programme organised by the Department of Home Affairs, South Africa will take place on 27 May 2026 at 08:00 in AseDI Ward 6. The initiative is designed to bring essential Home Affairs services closer to the community, making it easier for residents to apply for and collect Smart ID cards.
The outreach will provide several services, including free first-time ID applications for 16-year-olds (with an unabridged birth certificate and parent present) and free ID issuance for elderly citizens aged 60+ using a green ID book. Re-issues cost R140 and require supporting documents such as certified copies or affidavits, and a police report if lost or stolen. Additional services include passports (R600) and reprints of birth, death, or marriage certificates (R70). All payments will be cashless only, using Visa, MasterCard, or Apple Pay.
