South Africa’s Commonwealth Games swimming team returned home on Saturday after a successful campaign, winning 22 medals with a squad of 25 swimmers. The team exceeded expectations despite competing against countries with greater resources.

Star swimmer Lara van Niekerk successfully defended her 50m breaststroke title after overcoming health challenges. Coach Dean Price praised the team’s determination, saying their performances provide a strong foundation ahead of the Olympic Games in two years.
