WESTERN CAPE – South Africa’s first “Rooibos in Space” project will send indigenous rooibos seeds to the International Space Station, where they will be exposed to microgravity and space radiation before returning to Earth for comparative planting.

The initiative is led by Max IQ Space in partnership with the South African Rooibos Council. Seven schools from the Cederberg, along with Parklands College in Cape Town, will take part by collecting and sharing data to promote science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.
