The Department of Trade, Industry and Competition has invited members of the public to participate in a consultation process regarding the proposed Vaal Special Economic Zone (SEZ). The initiative is aimed at boosting inclusive economic growth in Gauteng by expanding the province’s portfolio of SEZs. The proposed Vaal SEZ is strategically located near key population centres and major transport infrastructure, positioning it to attract investment and support industrial development.

A public participation session will take place on Wednesday, 15 April 2026, from 10:00 to 13:00 at Vereeniging City Hall. Community members are also encouraged to submit written comments by Monday, 20 April 2026, via email. The project is expected to create significant employment opportunities during both the construction and operational phases, contributing to regional economic development.
