INANDA- KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has urged community crime-fighting groups to work with police and avoid direct confrontations with suspected criminals after three patrollers were shot and killed in Bhambayi, Inanda, north of Durban. The incident happened while the patrollers were on routine patrol tracking suspects linked to local robberies.

Police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda stressed that community structures like CPFs should support law enforcement through reporting and observation, not direct engagement, warning that criminals are increasingly willing to use deadly force against civilians as well as police.
