GAUTENG – Police in Gauteng confiscated counterfeit, contraband and illicit goods worth more than R500,000 during coordinated operations conducted in Cleveland, Langlaagte and Germiston between 23 and 25 June 2026. The raids, led by the Gauteng Counterfeit Unit with Brand Protectors and the Department of Agriculture, uncovered counterfeit consumables, cell phone accessories, illicit pesticides, honey and liquor.
Authorities also issued 14 non-compliance notices and one prohibition of sale notice to businesses in Germiston. Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report the sale of counterfeit or illicit goods, warning that such products can pose serious health risks to consumers.
