AUSTRALIA – The PGA Tour will co-sanction the Australian Open (golf) from 2027 for an initial three-year period, joining the DP World Tour in a major boost for the historic tournament. The move is part of a global expansion push aimed at elevating the event’s status and increasing prize money to attract more top-ranked players.
The agreement also ends speculation about a possible link-up with the LIV Golf, while strengthening the Australian Open’s place in the international golf calendar. Golf Australia says the long-term goal is to position the championship among the world’s top 10 most prestigious golf tournaments, with officials confident the new partnership will help grow its global appeal.
