Consideration of Report of Ad Hoc Committee to initiate and introduce legislation amending section 25 of the Constitution (ATC, 9 September 2021, p 22) (no debate)

Parliament will decide on Tuesday if the Constitution should be amended.

The 18th amendment will allow land expropriation without compensation.

Three years ago, the National Assembly adopted a report recommending the Constitution be changed.

Tuesday marks the final step in that process.

Any amendment requires a two-thirds majority.

A number of opposition parties have already said they will not support the motion.
