The Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) has officially withdrawn from coalition governments in the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) and Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM). This decision follows the removal of PAC councillor Mbuyiseni Kantso from the Emfuleni Mayoral Committee, where he served as MMC for Agriculture, Local Economic Development, Planning, and Tourism.

The PAC said it did not join the coalitions for positions but to serve the people. The party accused its coalition partners, particularly the ANC, of failing in accountability, ethical governance, and service delivery, calling Kantso’s dismissal a betrayal of the community. The move signals growing political instability in local governments as coalitions in Gauteng face internal disputes.
