The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has strongly condemned threats made on social media against State prosecutor Advocate Joel Cesar, who was involved in the Julius Malema firearm case. The NPA raised concern over posts circulating on platform X, allegedly linked to the Economic Freedom Fighters, which contain serious threats against Cesar, warning that such actions undermine the rule of law.
The authority stressed that these threats pose a real danger to prosecutors, highlighting recent incidents in the Eastern Cape where three prosecutors were killed in the past two years. The NPA said these events reflect the growing risks faced by those working to uphold justice and called for respect for legal processes and the safety of its officials.
