South African politician and academic Naledi Pandor has been installed as the new chancellor of Nelson Mandela University in the Eastern Cape. She succeeds Geraldine Fraser-Moleketi, who served two terms in the role. Pandor has held several high-ranking ministerial positions and is recognized for her activism, public service, and academic leadership.

Michelle Mbaco, Deputy Chairperson of the university council, said Pandor’s record aligns with the university’s focus on transformation and social engagement. “Nelson Mandela University honours a respected national leader, scholar, and advocate for knowledge by installing Dr Naledi Pandor as its chancellor,” she said.
