Municipalities have only two weeks left to submit their electricity tariff applications for the 2026/27 financial year. The National Energy Regulator of South Africa (NERSA) has set a deadline of 31 March, and all submissions must include cost-of-supply studies.
Eskom will increase electricity prices by 8.76% for customers supplied directly by the utility. Most municipalities, particularly metros, plan to implement their own tariff hikes starting on 1 July.
