Basic Education Minister Angie Motshekga has applauded the class of 2021 for working hard despite COVID-19 challenges.
Motshekga was speaking at a breakfast in Johannesburg to honour top achievers in public schools and urged learners to continue to work hard to move South Africa forward.
More than 800 000 learners wrote the matric exams in 2021 and are expecting their results
She says, “The 2021 matriculants are a class of their own. We need to understand and appreciate the magnitude of having a top learner in 2021. It’s a class that got the best of COVID-19. You couldn’t be here if you were an ordinary child. You carry the future of this country, the hopes and aspirations of this country.”
Motshekga will officially announce the 2021 matric results this evening.
