JOHANNESBURG – Mamelodi Sundowns have activated an option to extend Thapelo Morena’s contract, securing his stay for an 11th season at the club. The versatile player, who joined Sundowns in 2016 from Bloemfontein Celtic, is closing in on 350 appearances across all competitions.
The 32-year-old has been a key figure in one of the club’s most successful eras, valued for his ability to play in defence, midfield, and attack. However, his contract extension comes alongside disappointment after injury ruled him out of Bafana Bafana’s World Cup squad for matches in Mexico.
