The bail hearing of suspended Ekurhuleni Metro Police Deputy Chief Julius Mkhwanazi has been postponed to Thursday at the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court. Mkhwanazi was arrested on Saturday by the SAPS Madlanga Task Team and appeared in court on Monday alongside his co-accused, Kagiso Lerutla.
The pair face serious Schedule Six charges including fraud, corruption, and defeating the ends of justice. Mkhwanazi has also been linked to allegations of illegal activities involving the fitting of blue lights on vehicles. Magistrate Sipho Manana postponed the matter, while the DA in Ekurhuleni has called for Lerutla’s suspension following the arrests.
