The Gauteng Department of Health has strengthened healthcare services in the Sedibeng region with the opening of a new 35-bed mental health care unit at Sebokeng Regional Hospital. Gauteng Health MEC Faith Mazibuko also officially reopened three refurbished wards at Kopanong District Hospital as part of efforts to improve healthcare infrastructure and patient care.

The upgrades include a child-friendly paediatric ward and an improved female psychiatric ward designed to enhance patient safety, dignity and therapeutic care. The department says the projects form part of its ongoing investment in creating better healthcare facilities, improving access to services and supporting the growing communities that rely on public healthcare in the region.
