Gauteng MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Jacob Mamabolo, has committed to a long-term plan to fix waste management problems in Emfuleni Local Municipality. The municipality continues to struggle with illegal dumping and rising refuse collection costs despite significant spending in recent years.
The provincial government, working with Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, is stepping up clean-up operations and support teams under existing intervention programmes. The focus is now on a coordinated and sustainable waste management solution.
