JOHANNESBURG- Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, led a joint operation in Johannesburg targeting illegal cross-border and long-distance buses. The crackdown involved law enforcement agencies including SAPS, JMPD and the Cross-Border Road Transport Agency, focusing on permits, licences, and vehicle safety compliance.

During inspections at major bus terminals, officials issued fines, impounded vehicles and uncovered offences such as illegal loading points, fake number plates and bribery attempts. Forty undocumented immigrants were also arrested. The MEC stressed a zero-tolerance approach to illegal transport operations.
