JOHANNESBURG – The High Court in Johannesburg has postponed the case of alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala and four co-accused to Wednesday. Matlala faces charges linked to an alleged failed plot to kill his former girlfriend, Tebogo Thobejane, businessman Joe Sibanyoni, and music producer Seunkie Mokubung, also known as DJ Vettys.
The postponement followed confirmation that the state had now submitted all outstanding documents requested by the defence. As a result, Matlala’s legal team did not proceed with its planned application to compel the state for further disclosures. The matter is expected to be finalised on Wednesday before moving to trial scheduled for 20 July.
