INDIA- A man in Odisha, eastern India, has claimed he was forced to take his sister’s skeletal remains to a bank after struggling to withdraw her savings following her death. The incident gained widespread attention after a video of 52-year-old Jitu Munda carrying the remains went viral, sparking public outrage.

Munda said he acted out of frustration after repeatedly failing to provide the required proof of death to access the funds. Police reported that he had exhumed the body to present it at the bank, although the bank has denied requesting such action, stating that only legal documents were required. It added that the misunderstanding appeared to stem from a lack of awareness of the procedures, and confirmed that the money has since been released to the rightful heirs.
