JOHANNESBURG – The City of Johannesburg has intensified its revenue collection campaign by cracking down on customers who have failed to pay for municipal services. On Wednesday, Executive Mayor Dada Morero led raids on several properties in the Johannesburg CBD as part of the operation targeting defaulters.

City Manager Floyd Brink said the operation aims to recover nearly R200 million in outstanding municipal debt owed to the City. Twelve buildings in the CBD, each owing between R10 million and R11 million, were targeted during the enforcement drive, which also includes service disconnections for defaulting customers, government departments and state-owned entities.
