LEBANON – Iran has accused the United States of violating a fragile ceasefire after reported US strikes hit targets near the Strait of Hormuz in southern Iran. Tehran’s foreign ministry called the attacks a “gross violation” of the truce, which has been in place for nearly seven weeks. The US, however, said the strikes were defensive and targeted missile sites and boats it claimed were preparing to lay mines.

Tensions are also rising across the region as Israel carried out more than 120 airstrikes in Lebanon, according to security sources, marking one of the heaviest bombardments in weeks. Despite ongoing diplomatic efforts involving the US and Iran to reach a broader agreement on ending hostilities and securing shipping routes, officials warn that negotiations remain fragile and could still take days to conclude.
