Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana announced that he will re-examine the 2026/27 budget following a temporary reduction in the general fuel levy. The review comes as the government seeks to provide relief to motorists facing rising fuel prices.

In a joint statement with Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Gwede Mantashe, they said the levy would be cut from R4,10 to R1,10 per litre. Godongwana made the announcement while addressing the media at the Sixth South African Investment Conference in Sandton, Johannesburg.
