NELSON MANDELA BAY- Humanitarian organisation Gift of the Givers is providing urgent relief to residents affected by severe flooding in Nelson Mandela Bay in the Eastern Cape. Continuous heavy rainfall has left many people displaced and destitute, particularly in areas such as Missionvale in Gqeberha. The organisation has stepped in with essential supplies, including warm blankets, food, and clothing, as harsh weather conditions persist.
Spokesperson Ali Sablay says disaster response teams are on the ground assisting affected communities, with support already reaching over 1,000 people through meals and shelter at community centres. He adds that the situation remains unpredictable, with more rain and strong winds expected overnight. Relief teams will remain on standby to assist with evacuations and provide further aid as needed.
