The Gauteng Department of Human Settlements and the University of the Witwatersrand signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 24 April 2026 to strengthen collaboration on sustainable human settlements in Gauteng. The partnership aimed to promote research, evidence-based policy development, and innovation to improve service delivery in housing and urban development.

The signing ceremony took place at the New John Moffat Building on Wits’ Braamfontein Campus East in Johannesburg at 10:00. The event was attended by the Gauteng MEC for Human Settlements, Wits leadership, and senior officials, while members of the media were invited to cover the proceedings.
