JOHANNESBURG – The Gauteng Provincial Community Police Board has officially announced that it has no relationship, partnership, or association with the Gauteng Patrollers Hlanganani Organisation. In a notice issued on 12 June 2026, the board emphasized that community patrollers operating under Community Police Forums (CPFs) are unpaid civilian volunteers who assist the South African Police Service (SAPS) with crime prevention and neighbourhood patrols within a regulated legal framework.
The board stated that it does not support vigilante groups and warned that such organisations undermine established CPF structures. It has instructed all district chairpersons, CPF structures, community patroller coordinators, and youth crime prevention leaders across Gauteng not to engage with the Hlanganani Organisation. The board reaffirmed its commitment to lawful community policing structures and directed all CPFs to avoid any dealings with the group.
