The Gauteng Department of Human Settlements has launched an investigation into allegations that RDP houses in Devon are being illegally sold to foreign nationals. The department says the government-subsidised homes are meant only for qualifying South African citizens and permanent residents.

Officials have been instructed to verify the ownership of the properties and determine whether any unlawful sales or occupations have taken place. If the allegations are confirmed, the matter will be referred to the police and the department will take steps to recover the affected houses.
