The Gauteng Education Department has pledged to deliver additional mobile classrooms to Bovet Primary School in Alexandra, north of Johannesburg, following protests by parents over severe overcrowding. The school currently accommodates more than 2 000 learners, far above its capacity, prompting concerns about learning conditions and resource strain.

Gauteng Education MEC Lebogang Maile visited the school on Tuesday to assess the situation and confirmed that prefabricated classrooms will be introduced as a short-term solution. The school governing body says the mobile classrooms will help ease pressure and improve conditions while longer-term solutions are explored.
