The Free State Department of Agriculture has confirmed four new cases of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD), bringing the total number of infections in the province to 17. The latest cases were detected in Vrede, Virginia, and Ladybrand, raising continued concern over the spread of the disease.
The department says vaccination efforts are ongoing across all five districts, with over 245,000 cattle already vaccinated. It has received 200,000 doses of the Biogenesis Bago vaccine and 195,000 doses of the Dollvet vaccine, while applications for vaccination remain open amid a high demand from farmers.
