President Cyril Ramaphosa has reaffirmed that renewable energy will not replace Eskom as the country’s main electricity generator. Speaking during a visit to Kusile Power Station, he stressed that Eskom will continue to play a central role in powering South Africa despite the growing adoption of cleaner energy sources.

Accompanied by Kgosientsho Ramokgopa, the President assessed progress in electricity generation and grid stability. He praised Eskom for improvements in supply and reliability, highlighting that while renewable energy will be part of the future energy mix, the utility remains key to maintaining a stable and reliable power
