NORTH WEST- Workers at the Ditsobotla Local Municipality in Lichtenburg say they are being forced to remove waste from pit toilets in Coligny without gloves, masks, or protective clothing. The workers say the lack of PPE is putting their health at risk as they are exposed to raw sewerage daily.
The workers also claim they have never received medical check-ups despite years of dangerous working conditions. Some say they have developed illnesses linked to the exposure and have spent years demanding proper protective equipment from the cash-strapped municipality.
