The Democratic Alliance has taken the City of Johannesburg to the High Court in Johannesburg, challenging a R10.3 billion wage agreement reached with the South African Municipal Workers’ Union (SAMWU).

The party is seeking urgent court intervention to halt the deal, arguing it could place further financial strain on the metro. This comes just days after the city approved the agreement, with SAMWU maintaining the adjusted budget would address salary disparities and improve service delivery.
