GAUTENG- Democratic Alliance (DA) says the Presidency has received its request for a Special Investigating Unit (SIU) probe into alleged corruption worth R2-billion in the City of Ekurhuleni. The party’s mayoral candidate in Ekurhuleni, Khathutshelo Rasilingwane, says the alleged fraud took place through manipulated municipal bills and invoices.
The DA says it first raised concerns with the SIU last year after allegations emerged that hackers had siphoned money from the municipality by altering financial records. The party is now calling on President Cyril Ramaphosa to urgently authorise a full SIU investigation into the matter.
