PRETORIA – Alleged underworld figure Vusimuzi Matlala was expected to learn his fate on Wednesday after pleading guilty in a fraud and corruption case linked to a major state tender. He appeared at the Pretoria Specialised Commercial Crimes Court in hopes of receiving a more lenient sentence.
The charges relate to a R228-million tender awarded by the South African Police Service to his company, Medicare24 Tshwane District. The case is part of wider scrutiny into alleged corruption involving public procurement contracts.
